In a whirlwind!

Caught in a whirlwind!

The month of August 2008 is nearing its end and so is my presentation for our first design project for third year 1st semester : i.e. the Wau Cottage Industry ( i call mine the "Wau Haus")

Preparations for the presentation was not the only thing that took my time.
Everything caught me unaware this month. The good and the bad. But all at once....whoa!

Let's recount. What exactly happened this month ek?...hmm...

Of all the possible things that could have happened, i was actually named for the library award. I never knew that i was the biggest geek of the Faculty of built environment!
and for that, i was given book vouchers.

And then, i won the essay competition. Things were pretty much going my way huh. I even had to attend the prize giving ceremony. It's like...for this semester, i stay in studio less. Saturdays are normally booked with other activities.

But then, i can't say the same thing for my studies. Not that my grades are going down...it's just...although i am taking the least amount of credit hours this sem, i find myself having no direction in terms of doing my thesis. Cooperation is so hard to obtain from certain parties.

O well...i guess i always manage to get distracted when the important matters arise. The one week holiday came and gone. And then came this notice : " Please make yourself present at the Bilik Mesyuarat Utama this Monday when school reopens" and in my head...i went..."now what did i do??!!?!"

10 of us were called on monday. My supervisor, with a cheeky grin.... told us to remember if we did anything wrong in the past week or not. At that time, not all 10 of us had arrived at the meeting room and they were busy joking around. Then came the question also whether any of us were actually interested in pursuing 4th year immediately after 3rd year. The answers were mixed though i know for myself which route i would like to take.

So enough with the small talk. What had them call us up to the meeting room for?
*Drumroll pls....*
It seems, the University was feeling a lil generous and decided to start a fund called the Sultan Azlan Shah Fund for the Mobility of students.
5 faculties were chosen. Our faculty being one of them, only had the awards for our department of architecture.
And that is why all 10 of us were there.
Based on their selection criteria....each of us will be funded a certain amount of money to go on an educational travel along with the USC students who will be doing a joint project with the future 4th years of UM.
Details are still not that clear yet as how our itinerary is going to be. But the award ceremony was ysterday morning.....where (yup u guessed it rite) the students from archi were the ones to arrive the latest! well...still earlier than Sultan Azlan Shah. hehe.
That din really please the people in charge. Well, you can't expect us to leave our design and jus fail studio in order to arrive 1 whole hour before the Sultan does himself?!?!

I do hope this thing goes well. Might even be one of the best things to happen to me, since the Kuching Singapore trip!

On a side note ,i really gotta push myself even harder in studio. So that by nov, i can have a peaceful holiday in Korea. hehehe. I love traveling, but somehow, i realise that at most times it always forces me to choose ( The choice between work and travel) And that must be the reason for my solitary white strand of hair! XD
